Installation
the latest version of Mozilla Firefox from Mozilla.org, from Monarch, or you can get it off of the latest department provided cd (availabile in M103 Turner). Download the setup file to your desktop, and then double click it to start the install process. This will bring up a window that says "Extracting..." Wait, and after a moment this will dissappear and you will see the Firefox Setup Screen, shown below:
Click Next on this screen.
Click on the radio button that says "I agree" on the next screen, then click next, as shown below.
On the next screen, choose Standard Installation, and then click next on this and the following screen. You will then see a screen with a progress bar, as it installs the program. After this is done, you shall see the followin screen:
Check both boxes (or leave them checked if they already are), and click finish. Next we shall run Firefox for the first time.

Running Firefox for the first time
When you run Firefox for the first time (it should open automatically after installation), it often takes a few seconds to start up. If this is your first time ever installing Firefox on your machine, you shall be greeted by the following screen.
Choose one of the three available options, click next, and it shall import all your settings from whichever browser you have selected. Next we shall set up some of the most common options in Firefox.

Common Options
Setting your homepage
Go to the website you wish to set as your homepage by typing the url into the address bar at the top of the screen and hit enter, or click the "Go" button. Next, click on Tools —> Options. Under "Home Page", there is a button called "Use Current Page". Clicking this will set your homepage to the page you are currently browsing.
Tip: You can set more than one page as your homepage by opening them all up in tabs, and then following the procedure above. This will open up all the tabs as your homepage.
Setting Firefox's Password Manager
By default, Firefox saves your passwords, which is a security risk. You have 2 options, you can either set a "Master Password", or disable this behavior. The settings for this can be found under Tools —> Options —> Privacy. Click on the plus sign next to "Saved Passwords", as shown below:
To disable this behavior, uncheck the box that says "Remember Passwords", then click "OK".
To set a Master Password, click "Set Master Password", then enter your password twice. The password quality meter tells you how strong your password is (i.e. uses upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols, is not made up of dictionary words). Then click "OK". Now, when you go to a site that requires your password, after the first time you have put it in, you only need to put in your Master Password into the box that pops up, and Firefox shall fill in the information for you.
