Patrick Tranel

Developing effective, sustainable practices to reduce the damaging effects of weeds, insects, and diseases in crop fields and other plant ecosystems through applied research and fundamental research on the pests using tools from traditional and non-traditional disciplines.

“In my undergraduate weed science teaching, I stress that this is an exciting field to be in. Not only do we have opportunities to develop needed solutions for real-world problems, but we can study fascinating examples of evolution in action, as weeds fight back against our attempts to control them,” Tranel said.
