Diversified farms and community gardens at the rural-urban fringe are being studied in the Department of Crop Sciences for their contributions to local food production, plant biodiversity, wildlife habitat, recreation, visual quality, agritourism and other functions.

“My research vision is to build sustainable communities based on localized food production systems, moving beyond the study of existing problems to the development of alternative solutions for multiple stakeholders,” Taylor Lovell said.
