Grades from three hour exams in lecture (worth 15% each) and the Final (worth 10%) will comprise 55% of your total grade.
Occasional pop quizzes in lecture will make up 5% of your total grade.
Questions on reading handouts (10 required for the semester, only two questions per topic-not per handout). Topics with handouts and their due dates will be assigned in class. Go to the specific topic page (through lecture topics page) and use handouts under the heading "Reading Materials."
Written test questions (topics and due dates assigned during class) will be on any material covered during lecture or lab. Specifics will be given during lecture.
These two types of test questions (from Reading Materials links and lecture/lab topics) will comprise 5% of your total grade.
The laboratory portion of this course will be 35% of your total grade. Weekly quizzes and lab reports will collectively determine your points earned in lab.
Labs are not optional and any missed labs must be excused.
Grades from lab will be added to those in lecture to calculate your final grade.
Final grades are calculated on a weighted basis:
([Test 1 + Test 2 + Test 3 + Bonus] * 0.45) + ([Lab Quiz + Lab Exercise] * 0.35) +
([Test Questions + Readings Questions] * 0.05) + (Pop Quiz * 0.05) + (Final Exam * 0.10) = 1.00 possible weighted grade
There will be absolutely NO chances for "make-up" points at the end of the semester.
